ADX Toolkit
SOP Builder
A standard operating procedure only earns its place if the person doing the job can follow it where the work happens. This free tool builds one inside a simple framework: a title and purpose, then a table with one row per step. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded or stored on a server, and your document travels in the page address so it can be shared as a link. Print and export are open to everyone, with no account and no access code.
The three columns
- Step — one action, in the order it happens, starting with a verb: Open, Check, Record, Hand over.
- What to do — exactly what to do, where, and to what standard, so a new starter could follow it on their first morning.
- Best practices — the detail that keeps the step right: the check before moving on, the mistake that costs the most, the thing the experienced person does without thinking.
How it works
- Name the procedure and say in a sentence or two what it is for, who owns it, and which version this is.
- Write the steps one row at a time. Drag rows to reorder them, or use the arrow buttons.
- Add the best practice for each step, captured from the person who does the job best.
- Print or save the finished SOP as a clean PDF, or download it as a Markdown document. Every print and export carries The ADX Group footer.
The worked example inside the tool is the coffee-shop opening checklist from the book Continuous Improvement in the Workplace: mornings were chaos while everyone opened in a different order, until the owner wrote the best known way down, in order, on one page. The SOP Builder is part of the ADX Toolkit, open to use. For help standardising a live process, request a discovery call.
