Can AI do continuous improvement for me?

No. Chapter 8 describes AI as an amplifier, not a magician. In a healthy improvement culture it can automate repetitive tasks, analyse large amounts of data, and support faster decisions. In a weak culture it will help you be dysfunctional more efficiently. It augments human intelligence. It cannot supply wisdom, judgement, or the right questions.

AI is not a silver bullet, and it will not magically fix a broken culture or solve all your business problems. What it does is amplify what is already there. That is the central test in the chapter's section on the rise of AI.

Where a strong culture of continuous improvement exists, AI can be a powerful accelerator. It can take on repetitive tasks and free people for more creative, high value work. It can analyse vast amounts of data and surface insights a person would struggle to find. It can support better, faster, more data driven decisions.

Where the culture is weak, the amplification runs the other way. A culture of fear and mistrust gains new ways to monitor and control people. A culture that resists change gains another expensive, unused tool. The technology does not correct the culture underneath it.

The chapter also notes that the World Economic Forum has consistently identified critical thinking and problem solving among the most important skills for the future of work. AI can give you data and analysis. It cannot give you wisdom, judgement, or the ability to ask the right questions. Before adopting it, ask whether you are building critical thinkers or task doers, and whether people feel safe to experiment and fail.

“it is a tool for augmenting human intelligence, not replacing it.”
